NORFOLK ----Services for Ronald R. Fiillmer, retired Norfolk funeraldirector, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Churchwith burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesdayfrom 4 to 7 p.m. at Brockhaus-Howser-Fillmer Funeral Home.
Age 66, he died Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011, at Faith Regional HealthServices.

Ronald R. Fillmer, son of Raymond L. and Kathryn M. Groene Fillmer,was born Aug. 17, 1945, at Norfolk. He attended Burs High School, nowknown as Norfolk Catholic High School, graduating with the class of1963. After high school he attended Norfolk Junior College, WayneState College and graduated from the University of Minnesota,Department of Mortuary Science, in 1968.
On Dec. 28, 1984, he was married to Mary Jean Armbruster at St. Mary'sCatholic Church in Norfolk.
During his high school years, Ron was employed by Howser Mortuary.When he returned to Norfolk after college, Ron again went to work forHowser Mortuary, which led to a partnership and ownership in 1997 ofthe Howser-Fillmer Mortuary. Ron lived his entire life in Norfolk anddedicated his life to serving the community.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus,Elks, Norfolk Country Club, National Funeral Directors Association andNebraska Funeral Directors Association. He was also involved in theBig Brothers Big Sisters program.
Surviving include his wife, Mary Jean of Norfolk, one sister, Pat andher husband, Dale Walsh of Sioux City, Iowa; one brother, Richard andhis wife Cheryl Fillmer of Newton, Utah; four nieces and two nephewsand numerous friends.
