Hewas nineteen years old when he sailed and is said to have been a stowaway. His parents did not want him to go but he was determined andhid on the ship for two days until they were at sea. One of hisbrothers was Sigmund who later settled in Nebraska. They arrived inNew York harbor of Castle Gardens. We do not know where they wereuntil we find Frank on the 1870 Saline Co., MO census with a wife andone infant which would be Aunt Annie, Eliza was also born in Missouriin 1874. The family then moved to the Chickasaw Nation land whereMolly was born in 1875. They lived near a settlement called Loco, there is a spring there called Armbruster Springs. Five children wereborn near Loco including Joseph Andrew. The last child was Williamborn 1882. After his birth Elizabeth did not gain strength and duringthe winter she had pneumonia and died. In 1886 Frank moved the familyto Greer Co., Texas which became Greer Co. Okla then Backham Co.,Okla. As a newspaper article said the family lived at three addresseswithout ever moving. In 1899 Frank married Louise Brock per 1900Greer Co. census. In 1905 Joseph married Nora E. Lee.
-------------------------
Frank moved his family from Oklahoma to Galveston, TX where he boughta farm. He built a house and two barns, the house was very much likethe stone house. He did not like the sandy soil there so they movedback to his old farm. Every Aug. 12th a birthday party was held forFrank and Joseph whose birthday was Aug. 11. They put long tablesfilled with food under the trees, played music and there was dancing. All the neighbors came and it was a popular event. The stone housewas the first permanent structure in this part of the territory. Theother settlers were living in half dugouts. Lumber had to be shippedin and you had to go by wagon to Lawton or Texas to buy it. Frankquarried all the stone himself from an area called the Breaks. Josephand his younger brother William also helped, it took 6 years to build. It was made a historical monument but due to a lack of care andweather erosion it has since collapsed.
