STANTON ----Services for Helen Kern, 97, Stanton, were Thursday, April16, at St. Peter's Catholic Church here. The Rev. Timothy Langeofficiated and burial was in the Stanton Cemetery.
Howser-Fillmer Mortuary of Norfolk is in charge of arrangements.
She died Monday, April 13, 1998, at the Stanton Nursing Home.
The daughter of Fred and Matilda (Sturbaum) Armbruster was born Oct.25, 1900, in Stanton County. She graduated from Stanton High Schoolin 1919 and attended Wayne State College.
She taught rural school until her marriage April 18, 1923, to WalterKern. They farmed near Stanton. Her husband died Sept. 30, 1973.
She was a member of the church, its Altar Society and study club, andthe Stanton Women's Club. She served as organist for St. Peter'sChurch for 50 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Frank (Catherine) Corcoran ofAnderson, S.C.; two grandchildren; and sister, Frances Hunker ofMontgomery, Ala.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters and twobrothers.
